I learned of WHO I WAS, I LOOKED at WHERE I CAME FROM AND MY LIFE'S JOURNEY A LOT MORE clearer upon EIU's campus. I must THANK Tarlvin Randall, Bryson Pate, Eau Claire Caradine-Shelby, Eldrina L. Jones, Audrey K. Walker, Michelle Walker, Faith Frances, Jocelyn Phillips, Michelle Meadows, Ms. Linda Wylder, Mrs. Elaine Baugh, Girthia Payton, Lemuel N. Moore, Eneazer Moore, and Dr. Carolyn Woolever. Without THESE people in MY CORNER, I was CLEARLY GOING TO THROW IN THE TOWEL AND GLADLY COME HOME WITHOUT A DEGREE. It was the calls, dignity, respect, ear, voice and UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND SUPPORT that WAS given UNTO me that encouraged me to STAY IN THE GAME and YES GET TIRED BUT GO TO THE FINISH LINE! Their are TIMES we DEFEAT OURSELVES with NEGATIVE talk.
I flunked out of SIUE because of CULTURE SHOCK and then I went to a 99% Caucasian community as a warrior. I knew things, I researched things, I listened, I learned, and I delivered. I WAS NO LONGER HELD CAPTIVE BY MY OWN THINKING....I could, I had, and I came HOME with THIS ONE FACT: If I think I can, I AM RIGHT and If I think I can NOT, I AM RIGHT either WAY I AM RIGHT!
It wasn't Caucasian this and Caucasian THAT IS WAS ME AND MY FINITE THINKING so I HAD TO CHANGE MY THOUGHT PROCESS. I embrace my ETHNICITY CAUSE CLEARLY IT WASN'T GOING ANYWHERE. I HAD TO LOVE MY JOURNEY AND THE FOUNDATION I CAME FROM TO BE FREE. Upon EIU campus I read WOMAN THOU ART LOOSED and if NOTHING STOOD OUT TO ME FROM THAT BOOK THIS DID....Wounds Covered UP can NOT heal and from that point on....MY HEALING BEGAN TO TAKE PLACE UPON EIU'S CAMPUS!
